ABOUT MY FAMILY

I am very blessed to have a beautiful family and a special man in my life.   Each and every member is very dear to me and holds a special place in my heart.  They all have their own special places, too.  This page will introduce you and give you links to their sites and their pages and blogs.

Meet my son, Rob and his wife, Sarah.   Rob works for a local television station here and Sara is Executive Director at the local Ronald McDonald House.  My son is also a talented artist, has been in several movies and enjoys photography.  Sara is known throughout their community for her work with her job and is a wonderful mother and daughter-in-law.

This is not Tom Sawyer!  This is a Southern Tater Tot and my only grandson!  He is the apple of this Southern Nana’s eye.

Meet two Southern cowgirls!  Yes, I am the Southern momma of twins, Anne Parker and Leigh Harper.   They can ride a horse, barrel race, love animals, sweet tea, and farm life. Leigh is an Account Executive with the Horse Magazine in Lexington and Anne is Office Manager and Bookkeeper for Robert L. Conley Livestock Company.  They have a website on facebook, On The Rodeo Road,  that gives updates, news, and interviews about the rodeo world.

Last but not least, meet Bob.  He is my sweetie pie for the past five years.  He is not a native Southerner but moved South with his engineering job many years ago. Like me, Bob is now retired.  He loves woodworking and has a shop at his home where he makes beautiful furniture.  You can find out more about his hobby here.  Don’t you think he kinda looks like that Southern fried chicken man!!!

We have a new addition to the family!  Meet Charles Morgan, my newest grandchild and son to Charles and Sarah.  Such a cutie pie.  Born May 2, 2012.

  38. you have a great family do you havr recipe fot tomato perserves i have been looking for one Thanks Patricia jennings

    • Hi Partricia, I have my mother’s handwritten recipe. You know how the older cooks used a little of this and that. I am giving you her instructions. I have made it by this recipe before but just had to guess at most of what I was doing. This is for Ripe Tomato Preserves or yellow tomato preserves. 5 lbs. firm red or yellow tomatoes. 5 lbs. sugar. 1 lemon sliced, 1 teaspoon ginger. Skin and cut up tomatoes and add other ingredients. Cook till thick, stirring. 40 to 45 minutes.Pour into jars and seal.

  39. thank you i am going try it this summer i have heard so many people talk about it and i love tomatoes

  40. I am from Kentucky born and raised there but have lived in Tennessee for the last 11 yrs and to me it’s the same lol there are a few words that are different such as hose pipe that means water hose haha when I first moved here my husband ask me to go get a hose pipe and I didn’t want him knowing that I had no idea what that was so I ask the lady at the store and she said oh honey it’s a water hose lol.I really love your page and I say just about every word you listed, my youngest who is 16 laughs at me for saying some of the words on here but that is ok because I catch her saying them too 🙂

  41. i really enjoyed reading this about the words being use so didn’t i live in Augusta Ga. and South Carolinia is just across the river but so many of the people talk different so sometimes i just ask what they are talking about. but it”s just funny when you think about how different people talk from different States but when it comes down to it the words mean the same thing
